There is a short informational meeting that is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8:00pm at the Troy Elks Club on Big Beaver, between John R and Rochester Roads in Troy.

Dancing and socializing until 11:00pm follow the meeting.

Background Information:

Somerset Singles Ski & Golf Club will be celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2006.  To this day, we still hold the honor of having a few of the charter members.  The age group is anywhere from 45 and up.

You must be single to join.  However, members who plan to marry non-members must have the future spouse join the club before the marriage in order to preserve the membership for the member.

Annual membership dues are $40.00 per year.  Renewal is on the anniversary date of your application.

Members pay $4.00 to attend each membership meeting, while guests pay only $6.00.

For some of the social events there is a slightly higher fee for non-members.

A membership directory is mailed out to the members each year.  The monthly newsletter contains information regarding upcoming events, news about the members, along with stories about past activities and functions.  Information can also be found on the Current Events web page or by calling the hotline on 586-307-3930.

The board, that represents the membership, is made up of the President, Vice President, 4 Directors at Large, Secretary, Treasurer, a combined Ski and MDSC Director, Membership Director, Social Director, a combined Golf and Publicity Director and a Past President.  They are elected into office in December and serve a one-year term.

Activities:

The ski, golf and social programs are the core events of the club.  Members are very active in all of these activities.  There are week long and weekend ski trips (including instructional), weekday golf at local courses along with weekend golf trips in and around Michigan.  On occasion we also have a weekend trip to Canada. .

Some of the social activities are: bowling, theatre, baseball games, annual picnic, Christmas party and dance, feather bowling, card parties, Bocce ball, Super Bowl party and a monthly Meet n’ Greet with other singles groups at various restaurants.

We also hold at least one charitable event per year.  Some of the charities have included Muscular Dystrophy, Toys for Tots and a White Elephant Sale with the proceeds going to the Baldwin Center in Pontiac.

If you enjoy skiing, golfing or socializing Somerset Ski & Golf Club, is the club for you.  We pride ourselves on our longevity and in being one of the finest and friendliest clubs around.  Friendships made with members of the club can turn into friendships that will last forever.
